They’re not new, but they are certainly a trend now. With every anime season, more and more animes are making us wonder how our lives would change if we were actually “the chosen ones.” Yes... I’m talking about Isekai animes!🤩

Isekai is a genre in which the main characters are taken to an alternate reality. They are often ordinary students or workers who wake up in a fantasy world surrounded by dragons, elves, swordfights, and even mighty rulers.

Here are some ways to get “isekai’d” so you don't get taken by surprise!

ATTENTION: The soft voice of a goddess may or may not be heard begging you to save her world in the process. 🙄

Portals: The Easiest Way to Another World:

You are casually walking on the street and when you pay close attention to your surroundings, you are not where you were supposed to be. You may have gotten lost before, but probably not in another world!

If you're not summoned by a beautiful goddess or priestess, all it takes to go to another world is to open the right door, fall into a well, or pass through a tunnel, and that’s it! You got “isekai’d.”

Or you could simply wait for a portal to appear mysteriously in your city, like the one from the anime GATE.

Beware of Blank Pages:

We often hear that reading transports us to another world, but if this is to be taken literally, pick your books carefully and watch out for the number of blank pages, as you'll be the one to complete them!

This is what happened to Miaka, from Fushigi Yuugi, after she was dragged into the book she was reading.

Thankfully, she was lucky enough to be found by handsome gentlemen, but her best friend Yui, and Naofumi from The Rising of the Shield Hero, tasted the bitter side of the story.

Relaxing with your Favorite Game:

After a long day of hard work, you might want to relax by playing an innocent game. Chat with your online friends while playing an MMORPG or enjoy the silence and play alone.

Either way, be careful! You could end up being trapped inside the game and the only way to escape is to beat it!

At least it could end happily as was the case for Kirito and Asuna, the main characters in Sword Art Online.

Despite everything they went through, such as dying in-game meant dying in real life too, they became a lovely couple after being trapped together in the same game.

Truck-kun and Other Tragedies:

The most painful way to go to another world is by meeting Truck-kun or his friends!

Characters from different anime genres had this terrible fate; a car or a truck comes out of nowhere, and there’s no time to escape. So make sure to look both ways before crossing the street please!🥺

Accidents, fights, unknown causes… reincarnation must be the saddest way to be transported to a new world. However, it still gives isekai heroes a second chance to live exciting lives.
