Hello, friends! I'm Kaiya. How are you doing?

I'm currently out on a shoot, and it's snowing where we're located right now. But personally? I couldn't imagine a more perfect place to take photos of nature. Whether it’s the soft shimmer of a morning dew or the way sunlight dances on rippling water, capturing those little details brings me so much joy.

I've taken multitudes of photos of different seasons and places. But I rarely take photos of myself. Ironic for someone who is called Waifu Material isn't it? I’ve always been so focused on capturing the beauty around me that I’ve left myself out of the frame. Recently, though, I realized that I should include myself in the memories I treasure so much.

A Photoshoot in the Snow

Everything was covered in snow, sparkling like it had been sprinkled with stardust. Celestria had joined me for this shoot and was nice enough to take my photos.

I’ll admit, I was a little unsure. I’m so used to being behind the camera that holding it up to take my own photo felt awkward. But the moment felt too special to pass up. With snowflakes falling around me and the world so still, I decided to give it a try.

Seeing myself through a phone made me feel a bit conscious of myself. Should I smile? Look serious? I wasn't quite sure what to do, but I took the selfie.

When I looked at the photo later, I couldn’t help but smile. There I was, surrounded by the wintery beauty I love so much. It wasn’t just a selfie. It was a memory of being part of that magical scene.

I'm glad I took a selfie today, as vain as this sounds. Including yourself in the photos doesn’t take away from the beauty around you. In fact, it adds to the story. It’s a way of remembering not just where you were, but how you felt in that moment.

I’m still learning to take more photos of myself. As someone who is revered as waifu material, I feel like I am responsible for those who look up to me. I’ve come to appreciate how meaningful they can be. Sometimes, it’s nice to remind yourself that you’re part of the world’s beauty too.

Learning to Capture More Memories

If you’re like me and usually stay behind the camera, I hope this inspires you to step in front of it now and then. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Just focus on capturing how you feel and what matters most to you.

Let’s keep creating memories and cherishing the simple, beautiful moments life gives us.

Stay warm and gentle,
Kaiya 🍎
