Hidden Treasures in the Harem World!
Today we’re diving into one of my favorite genres—harem anime! Now, I know harem shows can sometimes get a bad rap, but trust me, there are plenty of hidden gems out there that deserve way more love! Not every harem is just about the fanservice (though that’s always a bonus), and today I’m gonna share my picks for the Top 5 Underrated Harem Anime That Are Actually Good!
From action-packed battles to hilarious misunderstandings, these shows have everything a true otaku could want. So let’s jump into it and uncover these under-the-radar harem treasures!
Number 5: The Asterisk War

Starting off strong with The Asterisk War! Set in a futuristic world where students from six different academies use special weapons called Lux to duel each other, this show mixes action, magic, and, of course, harem goodness. The main character, Ayato, finds himself surrounded by powerful (and adorable) girls, like the fiery princess Julis, who all bring something unique to the table.
While the battles are intense, the romance is slow and sweet, with plenty of moments that’ll make you go "aww!" If you’re looking for a harem anime with some great action and a touch of romance, The Asterisk War won’t disappoint!
Number 4: The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter

Next up, we have The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter, a lighthearted and fun harem show with a unique twist! Noir, the main character, gains access to a secret dungeon filled with treasures and powerful skills. Sounds pretty standard, right? Well, the catch is that to power up his abilities, Noir needs to indulge in physical and emotional pleasures… which means kissing, flirting, and getting close to the lovely ladies around him!
Despite the ecchi elements, this anime has a lot of charm with a cute cast of characters who genuinely care for Noir. And the adventures inside the dungeon keep things fresh and exciting!
Number 3: Musaigen no Phantom World

Here’s a harem anime that brings a little bit of everything—Musaigen no Phantom World (or Myriad Colors Phantom World in English) is a colorful, imaginative show with supernatural elements and a lovable cast of girls! The story follows Haruhiko, a high school student who hunts down phantoms—supernatural creatures that can interact with the real world.
While the show is packed with stunning visuals and action scenes, it’s the dynamic between Haruhiko and the girls that makes it stand out. From the kick-butt beauty Mai to the shy and lovable Reina, each girl has her own charm, making this harem anime a joy to watch. And don’t forget, there’s plenty of cute moments and accidental fanservice!
Number 2: Hundred

For those who love harem anime with mechs and intense battles, Hundred is the show for you! In a world where humanity is under attack by mysterious monsters called Savage, students at a special academy use a weapon known as Hundred to fight back. Hayato, the protagonist, turns out to be incredibly talented with this weapon, and naturally, all the ladies can’t resist his charm!
There’s plenty of ecchi moments (looking at you, Claire Harvey!), but Hundred also has a solid plot, with dramatic battles and relationships that develop over time. Whether you’re here for the action or the romance, this anime has both in spades!
Number 1: Jitsu wa Watashi wa

And finally, my number one underrated harem anime—Jitsu wa Watashi wa (aka Actually, I Am). This show has a super quirky and fun premise: Asahi, the main character, finds out that his crush, Youko, is actually a vampire! And that’s just the beginning—soon, Asahi meets a whole host of other girls with crazy supernatural secrets, including a demon, an alien, and a ghost!
The romance in this anime is so sweet and wholesome, and the comedy is on point! It’s not your typical fanservice-heavy harem—Jitsu wa Watashi wa focuses more on the relationships and has a genuinely heartwarming story. If you’re looking for a unique harem anime with lots of laughs and adorable romance, this one’s for you!
Bonus Anime: Armed Girl’s Machiavellism

As a bonus, let’s throw in Armed Girl’s Machiavellism! This action-packed harem anime brings something a little different to the table with its unique premise. It follows Fudou Nomura, a rebellious guy who’s sent to a school dominated by a group of five powerful girls known as the Supreme Five Swords. They enforce a strict rule where boys are forced to behave meekly, but Nomura refuses to conform, leading to epic battles and some hilariously awkward romantic tension!
The show is filled with intense sword fights, comedy, and just the right amount of harem dynamics. The leading girls are each skilled in martial arts and have strong personalities, making the interactions with Nomura both amusing and thrilling. It’s perfect for anyone who loves a good mix of romance, action, and comedy in their harem anime!
Wrapping It Up with Love!
So there you have it—my picks for the top 5 plus one underrated harem anime that are actually good! Harem anime doesn’t always have to be just about fanservice or ecchi moments (although, let’s be real, we all enjoy those, too). These shows prove that harem anime can have great characters, exciting plots, and heartwarming romances that keep us hooked.
