Why Infinite Stratos Blew Our Minds

Ah, Infinite Stratos—just saying the name gives me all the nostalgic feels! This anime had everything that made it a huge deal in the ecchi harem world: mecha battles, intense love triangles (or should I say hexagons?), and, of course, a lineup of waifus who totally stole the show!

Back when it aired, IS was the talk of the town because it blended action-packed mecha fighting with a harem of super cute girls—who can resist that combo?

And let's not forget, it was one of those shows that had the perfect balance of ecchi scenes to keep your heart racing but not tip over into "uh-oh" territory. The way the girls fought for Ichika’s affection (even though he’s oblivious most of the time) kept us hooked, and we couldn’t help but root for our favorite girl! 

Mecha Meets Harem: The Perfect Combo!

What set Infinite Stratos apart from other harem anime at the time was the cool concept of an all-girls school where they pilot high-tech mecha called IS units! Oh, and there’s one guy, Ichika, who somehow ends up in the middle of it all (classic harem move, amirite?). It gave us the best of both worlds—epic mecha fights and hilarious romantic moments. Not to mention, the girls' jealousy over Ichika led to some seriously funny and steamy situations. 

Looking at pics from IS now brings back so many memories! The beach episodes, the accidental "walking in on changing" scenes, the epic battle between Laura and Houki... Good times, ne? If you're an ecchi harem fan, this anime is like a rite of passage. There's just something about Infinite Stratos that feels so right—it still makes my heart doki-doki. 

Ranking the Girls: From Tsundere to Best Girl

Alright, minna! It's time for the ultimate ranking of the five main girls from Infinite Stratos! Each girl brought something unique to the harem, but let's be real—some stood out more than others. Here’s how I rank them based on their personality, chemistry with Ichika, and overall waifu appeal. Let's get to it!

5. Rin Fan (Lingyin Huang)

Our fifth spot goes to Rin, the twin-tailed tsundere from China! She's full of energy and has that fiery personality that makes every scene with her unpredictable. But let’s be honest: while her love for Ichika is cute, she tends to get overshadowed by the other girls. Still, her IS unit, Shenlong, is pretty awesome, and when she’s in action, you can’t take your eyes off her! 

4. Cecilia Alcott

The refined English lady, Cecilia! She’s all about elegance, and she’s totally convinced she’s Ichika’s number one. Though her confidence is a little over-the-top, you’ve gotta admire her passion! Cecilia is also the queen of long-range attacks, making her IS unit, Blue Tears, perfect for sniper-style battles. But as much as I love her pride and beauty, she sometimes comes off as a bit too... stuck up? Sorry, Cecilia! 

3. Houki Shinonono

Coming in at third is childhood friend Houki! Now, who doesn’t love a good childhood friend trope? Houki is strong, determined, and has some serious sword skills (katana action, anyone?). But what really makes her special is her bond with Ichika. You can tell that deep down, she’s got a soft spot for him, even if she tries to act all tough. Plus, that ponytail? Iconic.

2. Laura Bodewig

Laura’s intensity and "ice queen" vibe make her one of the coolest girls in Infinite Stratos. At first, she’s all about defeating Ichika, but once she falls for him, she turns into this adorably awkward girl trying to figure out how to be affectionate. Her IS unit, Schwarzer Regen, is one of the most powerful, and watching her go from enemy to ally was such a fun twist. Laura may be a little rough around the edges, but that’s what makes her so interesting!

1. Charlotte Dunois

And finally, the best girl, the queen of the harem—Charlotte Dunois! Come on, was there any doubt? This French beauty started as a "boy" undercover (plot twist!), but once her secret was out, she stole all our hearts with her sweet, caring nature. Charlotte has a perfect balance of shyness and confidence, and unlike the other girls, she’s the most open about her feelings for Ichika. Plus, she is irresistible! No matter how you look at it, Charlotte is the one.
