Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! It’s an anime similar to My Dress-Up Darling that’s been making waves online. 2.5 Dimensional Seduction has generated quite a buzz lately.

But does it live up to the hype? Is it merely a clone of the famous anime we all know, or does it offer something more—especially in the ecchi department?

Let’s dive in and find out!

The Introduction

Just when things seemed to get repetitive in the anime world, 2.5 Dimensional Seduction burst onto the scene. This rom-com series is sure to delight some while leaving others divided. From the very first episode, we meet Okumura Masamune, the lonely president of his high school’s Manga Research Club. He’s a true otaku, spending his time immersed in OVAs and harboring a deep distrust of real girls—he only believes in 2D waifus, largely due to his repeated romantic rejections.

This lack of confidence and his obsession with 2D characters make Masamune an interesting, if not predictable, protagonist. His world is turned upside down when he meets Amaono Ririsa, our energetic female lead. Ririsa barges into Masamune’s club, and the two quickly bond over their mutual love for a magical girl from the fictional series Ashword Wars.

Despite Masamune’s aversion to real girls, Ririsa’s appreciation for his anime figure collection—especially one with a revealing outfit—sparks a connection between them. This is one of the first times someone praises Masamune, setting the stage for the intriguing dynamics that follow.

From the outset, Ririsa’s love for sexy heroines is evident, and she quickly proves to be just as much of a geek as Masamune—if not more. Despite Masamune’s claim of having no interest in real girls, things heat up when Ririsa starts undressing to cosplay as one of their favorite magical girls. This moment marks the anime’s playful take on cosplay, where Masamune, despite his initial reluctance, finds himself drawn to Ririsa in character.

As their bond deepens, Ririsa’s passion for impressing Masamune grows. She even takes her cosplaying to the next level by attending in-person events, where the sight of other cosplayers ignites something within her. Determined to make her mark, she decided to create and sell a cosplay CD. While some viewers might find their interactions cute, others may view them as provocative.

As the series progresses, Masamune’s club expands with new members like Mikari Tachibana, Noah, and Kisaki Aria, leading to more fun and steamy moments. Masamune, now surrounded by these women, finds himself at the center of an interesting harem dynamic.

While 2.5 Dimensional Seduction isn’t perfect, it’s a fun and enjoyable anime that clearly draws inspiration from Dress-Up Darling. The story feels somewhat cliché, which might be a drawback for some viewers.

What really stands out is the ecchi harem aspect. Our MC unintentionally creates a harem of 3D girls, with the most attractive girl, who’s deeply into cosplaying, falling for him. Despite the predictable plot, the art, execution, and overall vibe are great. If you’re looking for a light-hearted, ecchi-filled weekend watch, this anime delivers.
