DaiSuga

Daichi and Sugawara talking to Daisuga - Haikyuu
Daichi and Sugawara taking a break

DaiSuga is the adorably perfect slash ship between Daichi Sawamura and Koushi Sugawara. These two started as friends in their first year, and after joining the Karasuno volleyball club, their friendship grew even deeper.

Daichi and Suga are often seen as a domestic couple type of ship. With nicknames like Dadchi and Sugamama or Sugapapa, they manage their team, aka their kids - it's not hard to see why fans think of them this way!

Even Asahi, the team's ace spiker, can't help but notice how Daichi and Suga sometimes act like his parents. After all, they have a lot on their plate, always keeping the energetic Karasuno in line (which is really tough work.)

The good part about this ship is that it doesn't die (like Daichi) after the time skip. As they move forward with college and work, their friendship thrives. Like real parents, they watched their "children," Kageyama and Hinata, play the V. League Division!

AsaNoya

Asahi and Nishinoya taking a break - Haikyuu
Asahi and Nishinoya taking a break

Asanoya is a ship from Haikyuu!! that features Jesus and a midget. Just kidding - it's none other than Asahi Azumane and Nishinoya Yuu!

These two fall within the "gentle giant and a ball of sunshine" trope that fans absolutely adore. Nishinoya's enthusiasm is a constant source of encouragement for Asahi, while Asahi, in his own quiet way, acknowledges Nishinoya's efforts and celebrates his successes.

But did you know this pairing didn't go mainstream until the Date Tech arc? Things were pretty tough for Karasuno high school when Asahi left the club, and Nishinoya got suspended. Thankfully, Nishinoya's determination and unwavering belief in Asahi eventually brought them back together. And they only had bigger moments to share since then!

Asahi also values Nishinoya's opinions. That is why, after graduation, he seeks Nishinoya's guidance on pursuing fashion.

Of course, we can't forget the last crumb of AsaNoya we got from Furudate! AsaNoya fans truly won with this one. After all, going on a trip to Egypt together has only fueled fans' imagination!

TsukkiYama

Tsukishima and Yamaguchi talking - Haikyuu
Tsukishima and Yamaguchi talking

TsukkiYama is an endearing slash ship between Kei Tsukishima and Tadashi Yamaguchi. These two go way back in their childhood.

But how did these two meet? It went a lot like a shounen anime: Tadashi was bullied, and Tsukishima saved him. From then on, fans have been fixated on their "childhood friends to lovers" trope!

Another adorable fact about TsukkiYama is that many fans compare it to the moon and stars. Think about it: Tsuki from Tsukishima means moon. While Yamaguchi’s name doesn’t have the character of a star, fans like to compare his freckles to constellations. Isn’t that cute?

Fast forward to the post-time skip, and their friendship is still solid. Tsukki's spiking balls for the Sendai Frogs and Yama's out there in the workforce. But even with busy adult lives, their bond remains strong!

SakuAtsu

Sakusa and Atsua from the Haikyuu Manga Panel
Sakusa and Atsumu in the manga

SakuAtsu is a relationship between Sakusa Kiyoomi and Miya Atsumu that explores the "Enemies to Lovers" trope.

Initially starting out as a rare pair, SakuAtsu barely had any interactions save for the friendly banters. But sure enough, their fans grew to appreciate the dynamic between the two. And honestly? You can’t blame them.

SakuAtsu's charm lies in the delicious tension between opposites. Fans also love the idea of Atsumu being the one to melt away at Sakusa's icy exterior. Talk about the “I can change him” trope!

Although the two seem to banter a lot, they have their moments—and by that, I mean ship-worthy moments.

Remember when a frustrated Atsumu ranted about getting carried away? Sakusa responded to him as though he knew him well enough for it to happen. And when Atsumu goes on a rant? Sakusa listens to him.

Atsumu also gets away with playful nicknames like "Omi-kun" and even a more casual "Omi-Omi." And the biggest kicker? Sakusa let Atsumu touch him on the shoulder. For a germaphobe like Sakusa, that's a HUGE deal!

KuroKen

Kenma and Kuroo watching a match in Nekoma High - Haikyuu
Kuroo and Kenma are watching a match

KuroKen is the slash ship between Kuroo and Kenma. They're childhood friends who can anticipate each other's needs and quirks.

Kuroo admires Kenma's strategic mind – the calm amidst his own wild energy. He also coaxes Kenma out of his shell (or at least tries to!)

Kenma, in turn, provided Kuroo with strategies that helped them bag numerous wins for their volleyball team. He also becomes Kuroo’s voice of reason when he gets a bit too wild!

This dynamic translates beautifully into fan fiction.

Imagine the angst when Kuroo, being a year older, leaves for college, leaving Kenma behind at Nekoma. This separation fuels stories filled with longing and pining, especially if they weren't already officially dating!

Adding another layer of sweetness, fan fiction writers often depict Kuroo giving Kenma the endearing nickname "kitten," highlighting his playful affection and Kenma's quiet charm. This detail adds a layer of tenderness to their already captivating bond!

IwaOi

Iwaizumi and Oikawa do a high five - Iwaoi ship - Haikyuu
Iwaizumi and Oikawa in court

IwaOi is a slash ship between best friends and teammates Hajime Iwaizumi and Tōru Oikawa. Their connection began in childhood, fueled by a shared passion for volleyball that blossomed at Kitagawa Daiichi.

But is that a good enough reason for it to become the most popular Haikyuu ship? No. Because there’s something more to that: their scenes together.

You can feel the bond and trust oozing from their vibe whenever these two appear on screen! They honestly have so many moments together that it’s almost impossible not to see something between them.

Remember that headbutt Iwaizumi gave Oikawa? It looks like him being violent, but that was actually his way of keeping Oikawa sane!

This dynamic only grew stronger at Aoba Johsai, where he and Oikawa have faced many battles together. Iwaizumi, like every protective bestie, makes sure that Oikawa does not overexert himself. He even goes as far as to support him all the way to the V. League!

Their bond from childhood friends up to their career stage is unbelievably strong. Whether you view it as platonic or romantic, there’s no denying that these two are soulmates!

BokuAka

Bokuto and Akaashi are together - BokuAka ship - Haikyuu
Bokuto and Akaashi looking at the television

The BokuAka ship (comprising Bokuto and Akaashi) is another case of opposites attract - but it's not what you expect.

While other Haikyuu ships have this passionate rivalry, Bokuto and Akaashi are more like the sunshine and the moon. Bokuto is this huge bundle of energy who excels at being a team captain and a player. Akaashi, on the other hand, is always looking out for Bokuto. He is the brains behind their team!

As the ace of their team, Bokuto is burdened with the responsibility of covering the areas that his team lacks. Akaashi takes it upon himself to read all of Bokuto’s 37 moods and helps his way out of it!

Maybe they would make the perfect BL couple in another life (yes, this was intentional). But in this one, we wouldn’t mind seeing Bokuto thrive as a professional volleyball player with his best man, who will forever cheer him on.

KageHina

Kageyama and Hinata fistbump - Haikyuu manga
Kageyama and Hinata final chapter

KageHina is arguably the most popular Haikyuu ship. This pairing comprises volleyball addicts Hinata Shoyo and Tobio Kageyama.

They initially started as rivals due to Kageyama's title in middle school as "King of the Court." But even though they fought a lot at first, they learned to work together and became the infamous duo of Karasuno!

Hinata and Kageyama's bond is tested throughout the series. In fact, it was a major plot point that helped them drive the team to win.

They lose games, freak out sometimes, and train like crazy. Their journey is basically a friend war with jealousy sprinkled in, but they also have each other's backs and always makeup. You know, just like real friends – the more stuff they go through together, the stronger their bond gets!

But these two don't just stop playing after high school - they continue on after college, even going pro!

Their epic rivalry gets a whole new chapter when they team up with the Japan National Team. It's like their crazy competition comes full circle, and now they're fighting together to win for their country.

But of course, we can't forget how everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) went crazy for the final Haikyuu chapter: Schweiden Adlers and MSBY Black Jackals. Though we have not seen the conclusion of the match, it honestly makes for a perfect ending to their rivalry/friendship.
