What are your plans for the weekend?

I created the Otaku Community so anime lovers could talk about their hobbies, share experiences, and, most importantly, stay in touch with other otakus!

However, while the Internet shortens the distance between people from across the globe, getting out and seeing others face-to-face is something else.

Hundreds of anime-related conventions are organized in different US States annually. They hold various events and attractions, including autograph sessions with voice actors and other special guests.

Here’s a list of upcoming anime conventions in September 2023 to consider for a fantastic weekend!

Event: San Japan
Date: September 1 - 3, 2023
Location: Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center - San Antonio, TX

San Japan is a large convention in the South Texas Region. It offers many fun activities, such as brunch with guests, a car show, and a Mascarade. Check their website for further information and ticket rates!

Event: Nan Desu Kan 2023
Date: September 1 - 3, 2023
Location: Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center - Aurora, CO

Nan Desu Kan is a veteran in Colorado, reaching its 26th edition this year! Attendees can enjoy traditional Japanese arts, shop for kimonos, and watch anime. Also, a charity ball and fantasy-themed night market are held the night before the event. So watch for this mystic experience if you live nearby.

Location: Dena'ina Civic and Convention Center - Anchorage, AK

This enormous convention in Alaska is super fun. Visitors can participate in events, panels, and contests related to anime and gaming! With a VIP pass, you can have lunch with the convention’s special guests, get a gift bag, and access the VIP lounge.

Event: Anime Oklahoma 2023
Date: September 8 - 10, 2023
Location: Grand Casino Hotel & Resort - Shawnee, OK

Otakus in Oklahoma can spend their weekend having fun with the activities available at this anime convention! Launched in 2019, Anime Oklahoma offers karaoke, card tournaments, cosplay meet-up, and more.

Event: Anime Town Greenville 2023
Date: September 8 - 10, 2023
Location: Greenville Convention Center - Greenville, SC

Anime Town Cons organizes conventions in different states, and this is the second edition of Anime Town in South Carolina. It’s another opportunity to attend if you didn’t the first time (in January).

Event: Collect-A-Con Charlotte 2023

Collect-A-Con happens in different states yearly and focuses on trading cards, Funko Pops, and other collectibles. This September, you can enjoy the events, the vintage toys, the comic books, and everything else this North Carolina convention has to offer! I wonder how many otakus will collect Waifu Cards.

Location: Odessa Marriott Hotel & Conference Center - Odessa, TX

If you’re looking for anime conventions in Texas, Midessanime is a recent option with fun attractions! The third year of this convention includes a maid cafe, improv, and foam fight, among other activities and shows.

Event: Anime USA 2023
Date: September 22 - 24, 2023

Anime USA has been around since 1999, and there are various events to make any otaku weekend wonderful! A formal ball, karaoke, and board gaming are just a few events you can enjoy.

Event: Kami-Con HAI 2023
Date: September 29 - October 1, 2023

Kami-Con HAI is a significant event in Alabama, reaching its 14th edition this year! Attendees will enjoy the activities, including cosplay contests, gaming, anime screening, and concerts. So you can see the likes of Vocaloid and The Living Tombstones (the band behind Five Nights At Freddy’s OST) perform live!

Event: Anime North Texas 2023
Date: September 29 - October 1, 2023
Location: Mesquite Convention Center - Mesquite, TX

Back after a two-year break, Anime North Texas is another veteran! Join fellow otakus and make new friends while watching anime, supporting independent artists, playing games, and being side-by-side with the voice actors of your favorite characters.

Event: Anime St. Pete 2023

Anime St. Pete is the second convention organized by Florida Comic Cons this year! And they are ready to show you a wonderful weekend with great activities, including a scavenger hunt and raffles. There will also be Asian food trucks and themed desserts.
