About

Akame is one of the main protagonists of the manga series Akame ga Kill! and its prequel Akame ga Kill! Zero. She is renowned for her lethal swordsmanship and her role as a former member of the assassin group Night Raid. Akame was originally sold to the Empire along with her sister, Kurome, to be trained as an assassin. However, she defected from the Empire when she was ordered to assassinate General Najenda, the leader of Night Raid, and joined them instead to fight against the corrupt monarchy.

Throughout her journey, Akame has demonstrated unparalleled skill in combat, particularly with her Teigu, Murasame. Despite her cold and serious exterior, Akame deeply cares for her comrades and is haunted by the loss of those close to her. After the events of Akame ga Kill!, she continues her fight in Hinowa ga Yuku!, where she serves as a mentor and tutor in swordsmanship and combat.

Akame is a striking young woman with long black hair that reaches her knees and piercing red eyes, embodying her title, "Red-Eyed Killer." She typically wears a dark, sleeveless outfit with a red tie and a black pleated skirt. In battle, she carries her deadly Teigu, Murasame, and dons a long dark coat when necessary. Despite her serious demeanor, Akame has a softer side that is revealed through her interactions with her comrades, showing deep concern for their well-being.

Her personality is shaped by the harsh training and experiences she endured under the Empire. Akame comes across as cold and emotionless, but this is more due to her social awkwardness and the emotional walls she has built to protect herself. Despite this, she has a strong sense of camaraderie and will go to great lengths to protect those she cares about. Her love for food, especially meat, adds a quirky and relatable aspect to her character, showcasing her more human side.

As a highly trained assassin, Akame possesses numerous formidable abilities that make her one of the most dangerous characters in the series:

  • Master Swordswoman: Akame is an exceptionally skilled swordswoman, capable of defeating even the most powerful opponents with her blade, Murasame.
  • Superhuman Strength, Speed, and Reflexes: Her rigorous training under Gozuki endowed her with physical abilities far beyond those of an average human.
  • Stealth and Assassin Techniques: Akame can mask her presence, making it difficult for enemies to detect her until it's too late.
  • Teigu - Murasame: A cursed katana that can kill with a single cut, as the poison in the blade has no antidote. Murasame's trump card amplifies Akame's abilities but comes with severe physical consequences.
  • Survival Skills: Trained in the wild, Akame is adept at survival tactics, including hunting, foraging, and basic medical treatment.

Despite losing Murasame, Akame continues to be a formidable warrior, utilizing her skills and other weapons to maintain her edge in combat.
