Charlotte Pudding

About

Charlotte Pudding is a key supporting character in One Piece and a member of the Charlotte Family, one of the powerful and infamous families within the series. She is the 35th daughter of Big Mom (Charlotte Linlin) and plays a central role in the Whole Cake Island arc. Pudding is known for her dual nature—outwardly presenting herself as sweet and innocent while secretly harboring a darker, more manipulative side. Her complex personality and eventual character development make her one of the most intriguing characters in this arc.

Pudding is a hybrid of human and Three-Eye Tribe, which grants her a unique ability tied to her third eye. Initially, Pudding is tasked with helping her family manipulate and deceive Sanji, as part of an arranged marriage to strengthen Big Mom’s political power. However, as the series progresses, her relationship with Sanji deepens, and she undergoes significant emotional growth.

Pudding has a beautiful, youthful appearance, with long, curly brown hair and a large, expressive face. She usually conceals her third eye by covering it with her bangs. She wears a variety of elegant, feminine outfits that reflect her high status as one of Big Mom’s daughters. Despite her attractive appearance, Pudding's true charm lies in the complexity of her personality.

Personality-wise, Pudding is initially shown as sweet, shy, and compassionate, particularly towards Sanji. However, it is soon revealed that this is a facade. In reality, she is manipulative, cold, and even sadistic at times, enjoying the torment she causes others through her lies. This duality makes her a compelling antagonist early in the arc. However, as the story unfolds, her genuine insecurities and emotional vulnerabilities come to light, particularly her pain regarding her third eye and how it has led to her being ostracized.

Her complex feelings for Sanji ultimately lead her to a more redemptive path, as she falls in love with him and struggles with her role in Big Mom’s plot to assassinate him. This conflict results in some of the most emotional moments of the Whole Cake Island arc.

  • Memo Memo no Mi: Pudding possesses the powers of the Memo Memo no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows her to manipulate people’s memories. She can extract, view, and alter a person's memories by cutting them out as if they were film strips. This ability makes her a dangerous manipulator, able to rewrite events to her advantage.

  • Three-Eyed Tribe Powers: As a part of the Three-Eye Tribe, Pudding has the potential to awaken her third eye’s powers, though the full extent of these abilities is not fully explored in the series. Big Mom hopes that Pudding will one day awaken this power, which would enable her to read the ancient Poneglyphs, a rare and highly valuable skill in the One Piece world.

  • Intelligence and Cunning: Pudding is highly intelligent and manipulative, often using her cunning to deceive others, especially in the early stages of the arc. Her ability to play both the victim and the villain makes her a complex strategist within her family’s schemes.
