It's past time I showed my fujoshi and Yaoi (Boys' Love) anime fans some love, but this changes today!

I have a HUGE list of Yaoi anime that are precious to me and which I'd like to share with you all, so I picked six of my favorite titles to get things started! If you are looking for new fantastic shows you won’t regret watching, this post is for you!

The Six Best Yaoi Anime to Watch in 2024

Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! (MAL score 7.64)

The first and most recent title in this list is still airing!

Released in January and set to have 12 episodes, Cherry Magic is about the office worker Kiyoshi Adachi, who reached his thirties without ever having his cherry popped. Due to this accomplishment, he becomes a wizard able to read minds through physical contact. And if you don’t get the joke, I know you are younger than he is!

On the way to work, Adachi runs into his attractive and well-liked coworker, Yuuichi Kurosawa. Despite not being very fond of his own psychic abilities, Adachi uses them to peek at Kurosawa's heart and finds out he has romantic dreams for a colleague at their office. But not just any colleague: Kurosawa's perverted thoughts are meant for Adachi himself!

One of the classic Yaoi anime from the past decade, Hatsukoi is perfect for those who have difficulty letting go of lovely characters when the show is over. Aside from OVAs, and the popular spin-off Junjou Romantica, the Hatsukoi manga is still ongoing!

In Hatsukoi, Ritsu Onodera is determined to prove he doesn’t need his father to succeed in the literary industry. To do that, he quits his job at his father's publishing company and transfers to Marukawa Publishing.

However, instead of being placed in their literary division, Ritsu is relocated and becomes a rookie manga editor for the Emerald editing department. There, he is introduced to the infamous editor-in-chief Masamune Takano, a persistent man who strives for results.

To make matters worse, Takano is Ritsu's high school love and the reason he refuses to fall in love again. Now, with the two reunited after several years of separation, Takano vows to make Ritsu say he loves him again!

The Stranger by the Shore (Umibe no Étranger) (MAL Score: 7.85)

Stretching the list to mature content, The Stranger by the Shore tells the story of Shun Hashimoto, an aspiring novelist living in Okinawa after being abandoned by his parents for coming out.

One day, he meets the reserved, orphaned high school student, Mio Chibana, on the beach and is instantly captivated. They slowly begin to grow closer, but Mio suddenly announces he has to leave for the mainland.

Mio returns to Okinawa after coming of age years later to confess his love to Shun, but Shun's life has already changed. Will he still be able to accept Mio's feelings after years apart?

TOP 3: Sasaki and Miyano (Sasaki to Miyano) (MAL Score: 8.22)

Sasaki and Miyano Yaoi anime

The show Sasaki and Miyano has a good amount of content. There are 12 episodes, a movie, and even a spin-off, so you have more time to watch this couple!

Shuumei Sasaki saves Yoshikazu Miyano's classmate from a group of bullies, and after that, Sasaki constantly pesters Miyano. He refuses to leave him alone, continuously calling him cute nicknames and ignoring his boundaries.

However, Miyano’s real issue is that he secretly reads boys' love (BL) manga and would hate it if someone found out. But he accidentally tells the truth to Sasaki, who is intrigued and asks to borrow a book to read.

From that moment, Sasaki and Miyano shared a common interest, and their feelings for each other began to change, becoming complicated as they spent more time together.

TOP 2: Doukyuusei -Classmates- (MAL Score: 8.28)

Before I start talking about this movie, watch this trailer!

That should be enough to encourage you to watch the show, but just in case, let me tell you what Doukyuusei is about.

During the summer, Hikaru Kusakabe and Rihito Sajou’s class is forced to participate in an upcoming chorus festival. Kusabe is a carefree boy in a rock band, and Rihito Sajou is an honor student with excellent grades.

Kusakabe happens to see Sajou rehearsing by himself and struggling to get the song right, so he offers to help him, and the two become closer and closer with time.

TOP 1: Given (MAL Score: 8.32)

Satou and Uenoyama from the yaoi anime Given
Given, Season 1, Episode 1 || Credits: FanCaps.net

With 11 episodes and a movie, this is another Yaoi anime for the sweethearts who always say yes to musician boys!

In Given, Mafuyu Satou is strongly attached to his Gibson guitar. While taking a nap in a quiet spot at school, he encounters Ritsuka Uenoyama, who scolds him for not properly caring for his instrument. Noticing how much Uenoyama knows about guitars, Satou asks for help fixing his guitar and learning how to play.

After Uenoyama eventually agrees, he finds out Satou has a lovely voice and is determined to make him the band's lead singer.

For Satou, accepting the offer means more than simply learning how to play the guitar; it also means coming to terms with the circumstances that led to him owning the guitar.
