I must confess I wasn’t planning on watching the anime Oshi no Ko just yet.

However, after reading some comments, I decided to check it out, and the first episodes were surprisingly good!

Here's the plot if you don’t know what this anime is about.

Oshi no Ko follows the story of a doctor killed by a mysterious man and then reincarnated as the son of the idol he loves. But his new, happy life turns upside down when a possessive fan attacks the idol, and he grows up seeking revenge.

The anime is scheduled to have eleven episodes released weekly. And while you wait for the next ones, you can check this short list of titles below that cover similar themes!

Oshi no Ko is not the first anime to show how a fan’s obsession with their idol can become dangerous. Mima, from Perfect Blue, deals with one of those fans too!

The anime shows us how cruel the glamorous world of showbiz can truly be and is an excellent choice for those that like horror movies. This award-winning anime movie from 1998 has inspired well-known Hollywood movies!

If you like shows with children who shouldn’t be played around with, like the twins Aquamarine and Ruby Hoshino, let me introduce you to The Devil of Rhine!

The Saga of Tanya the Evil is about a nine-year-old girl who enlists in the military and soon ascends in rank. She became known as The Devil of Rhine for being a talented strategist and ruthless killer.

In her past life, Tanya was such a cold-hearted man that he managed to annoy God upon his death. As a result, he was sent to an alternate world as the little blond girl we follow through the series.

Ya Boy Kongming - To lighten up the mood!

Make room for some wholesomeness with this fun anime involving reincarnation and the struggles of being an aspiring artist. This anime is an excellent example of how you can give a new purpose to skills you already possess!

On his deathbed, Kongming, once regarded as one of the greatest tacticians in China centuries ago, wishes he could be reborn in a more peaceful era. And when his eyes open once more, he is in modern Japan!

Kongming is wholly lost in the new world and ends up dragged into a bar, where he’s instantly charmed by the singing voice of Eiko Tsukimi. He then decides to use his war tactics to help her achieve her dreams as an artist!

Kaguya Sama: Love is war - The older sister!

Last but not least, if you like everything about Oshi no Ko, why not give Kaguya-sama: Love is War a chance?

This anime is a romantic comedy created by Oshi no Ko’s author, Aka Akasaka. The anime adaptation has 37 episodes split into three seasons and a special movie release in December 2022.

In Kaguya-sama: Love is War, two geniuses (but prideful students), Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya, live in constant battle. Not for grades or recognition but to see who will give in and confess their feelings for the other first.

All right, it's show time!

It might be too early to say if Oshi no Ko will live up to the hype, but I'm sure you won't regret trying this list!

Still, these shows are just a tiny portion of all the great anime about idols and music. What are your recommendations? What other kind of anime should I talk about next?
