Easy ideas for your first or last-minute cosplay!

As usual, I was thinking about how cool it must be to go on adventures or live in a fantasy world like in an anime.

Although this is not exactly possible, it reminded me that part of the beauty of the otaku culture is Cosplay!

As much as I always send the best items I can in each box every month, I know the opportunity of becoming an anime character doesn’t match any other experience!

While we cosplay, we can taste what it would feel like to be that one character!

But replicating some dresses, weapons, and accessories is not that easy, and takes some practice, so I totally understand that many beginner cosplayers may feel a little lost or insecure.

The good news is that there are some incredible characters whose appearances don’t require much time or experience to replicate!

So here are five cosplay ideas of anime characters that are easy to replicate!

Yato from Noragami

Noragami, Season 1, Episode 1 || Noragami Wiki

The main character in Noragami is an unknown god who wants to become the God of Fortune, even though he only charges five yen for each job.

Yato is a medium-height young man with short dark hair and light blue eyes. And as you can expect from a low-ranked god, he’s very simple to cosplay!

If you have (or can find) a plain light blue neckerchief, a navy tracksuit with white stripes on each side, and brown engineer boots, you’re ready to go!

Attention to detail is helpful in completing your cosplay. Yato’s neckerchief is damaged around the tip, and his tracksuit has a golden crown on the right side!

Vermeil, from Vermeil in Gold

Vermeil in Gold, Anime: Vermeil accepts to be Alto's familiar
Vermeil in Gold, Season 1 Episode 1 || Kinsou no Vermeil Wiki

Vermeil is a powerful and seductive demon summoned by Alto Goldfield in a desperate attempt not to fail his summoning class. As an act of gratitude for being freed, Vermeil agrees to become Alto's familiar.

One thing that is a plus is that she can hide some or all her demonic features, which means she is suitable for different levels of cosplays.

Her true form has gigantic horns, digitigrade legs, and large black wings, but her human form is a voluptuous lady, who has short bluish hair with violet tips and red eyes.

She wears a black backless mini-dress and black heels. That’s all. Easy, isn’t it? You can also add pointy ears, small horns, and a demon tail to boost your cosplay.

Orphans from The Promised Neverland

This idea is excellent if you have friends matching your cosplay!

The Promised Neverland is an anime about kids who live happily within the walls of an orphanage until they find the truth behind their “mama’s” intentions.

Boys and girls who live in this secluded place wear very similar outfits: a white shirt, a white pleated skirt or trousers, and brown boots.

Make sure your shoes are comfortable, because you may have to run a lot! 😂

For the little ones! Platelets from Cells at Work!

Each different cell in Cells at Work has a different body type, and most of them wear clothes that are easy to find, making them excellent choices for last-minute or budget cosplays!

If your little one wants to jump into the cosplay world early, what about dressing up as a cute Platelet?

An oversized light blue T-shirt, light beige or white shorts, a cap, and black rain boots (best if you can make the top and sole white!) will do the trick!

And remember! Everybody is unique, so there isn’t just one way to represent any cell!!!

Umaru Doma from Himouto! Umaru-chan

Himouto! Umaru-chan, Anime: Variations of Umaru in her indoor mode
Himouto! Umaru-chan, Season 1, Episode 11 ||Himouto! Umaru-chan IMDb

Umaru-chan has two forms. The “perfect teenager” outdoor mode, who is a top student admired by many, and the chibi potato indoor mode!

When Umaru is at home, she spends most of her time avoiding her responsibilities, watching animes, reading mangas, or playing video games.

Her indoor outfit consists of a white shirt, reddish biker shorts or capri leggings, and, of course, an orange hamster hooded blanket, which is easily found online.

Pamper your little otaku (or yourself!) with delicious snacks, and they’re ready to go!

Feeling Motivated?

Many more characters that wear simple or easy-to-find outfits, like black suits, and such. Acting is the key!

Looks are important, of course, but your cosplay will only be complete if you take time to learn about the character!

You can practice some memorable lines and signature poses, for example, to learn how to behave!

But most importantly, have fun! In my opinion, there’s no point in aiming for perfection if you won’t be happy when you’re cosplaying! So make sure this is your top priority!
