It seems Isekai animes will never stop amazing me!
Fantastic new anime is being announced all the time, and I’m looking forward to featuring them in my subscribers' boxes every month!
And I can’t help noticing that the variety of themes, especially those related to reincarnation, are getting wilder!
Among heroes, villains, little girls, and so many other ways to come back to life, these are the ones that surprised me the most!
It is not uncommon for isekai characters to become or have to deal with slimes, but Satoru Mikami from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is the most famous example.
In TenSura, Satoru is a salary man who got stabbed by a robber and didn’t resist. Following his last wish, a mysterious voice grants him a new life in another world as a slime.
Later, the slime, then called Rimuru Tempest, could eventually assume a human form (a very cute one if you ask me!😁).
This is like being a human but without flesh or skin!
Ainz Ooal Gown, from Overlord, and Arc Lalatoya from Skeleton Knight in Another World share the fourth position for having very similar fates:
Both were playing an MMO game (as we all do) until they got trapped in the game as their avatars. Keep that in mind next time you build a character, as you could turn into the form you make!
In So I’m a Spider, So what? a massive light beam suddenly destroys an entire school, and the students get isekai’d.
Some of them reincarnate as nobles and can enjoy a comfortable life, but not everybody has the same luck.
One of the girls ends up reborn as a spider in a life-threatening dungeon! She is just a weak little spider fighting to survive on her own! Ugh! This is not fair!
Life isn't always fair, but as they say... "what doesn't kill you makes you… eat your spider siblings to survive!" 😳
You read it right! Some individuals become sentient weapons after dying in a tragic accident!
According to anime seasons, one of the animes that started airing in the Fall of 2022, was Reincarnated as a Sword.
When the main character regained consciousness after a traffic accident, he discovered he was a sword and slowly learned how to deal with his new life.
Even though killing monsters and leveling up is fun, being a lonely sword in a fantasy world is sad; it deeply yearns for a wielder.
And the weirdest way to reincarnate so far is as a Vending Machine! Congratulations on the first place, Boxxo!
The anime I'm talking about is Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon, which premiers in July 2023.
The main character, a vending machine otaku, didn't get hit by truck-kun but sacrificed himself to save a machine in a road accident and got isekai'd anyway.
When I think about it, everybody has their importance, whether it's the skillful characters or the vending machine in the middle of nowhere!
The historic Japanese personality Nobunaga Oda returns to life as a fluffy Shiba Inu dog in Oda Cinnamon Nobunaga. Considering how well we treat our pets nowadays, he was pretty lucky!
You read it right! A Microphone! After a tragic accident, a regular salaryman woke up to realize he was a microphone in a high-school ASMR club. That’s the new life of “Ore-kun” from My Life After I Became a Dummy Head Mic One Morning.
These are rather unusual ways to come back to life, but the imagination of isekai authors definitely has yet to be exhausted!
I haven’t even talked about the hot spring or panty guys, let alone all the million possibilities of reincarnation!
So, promise me you will continue your isekai anime journey with these titles and enjoy all the surprises in this genre!
