After watching these animes, there's no turning back!
Hello, I'm Liz. It's a pleasure to meet you!
I started watching anime when I was just a little girl, and I loved it so much that I grew up to become what some people call an otaku!
Don't get too worried about foreign words now! It just means I'm a big fan of Japanese cartoons, comics, and other things related to them!
If you're here reading this article, I assume you are curious about this marvelous world, amiright?
Or are you already one of us, looking to strengthen your connection with someone important to you?
Whether it's for yourself or someone else, here are a few shows that will make you understand why people like me are so in love with anime!
Spirited Away (2001)
Let's start with this beautiful adventure movie. Spirited Away is such a great animation; it won an Oscar in 2003, among other awards!
Chihiro Ogino is a 10-year-old girl that is on a car trip with her parents to their new home when they find an abandoned amusement park along the way.
She insists that her parents should leave that boring place, but little do they know that once the sun sets, strange things start to happen in the area; They have entered the spirit world!
Chihiro must be brave and strong to find her way back home and save her parents!
Cardcaptor Sakura (1998)
Another lovely anime involving little kids doing great things is Cardcaptor Sakura!
It is about a lively ten-year-old girl, Sakura Kinomoto, who accidentally releases magic cards all over town.
A powerful sorcerer had created these cards, and each one has a different ability and behavior. Some can be gentle and harmless, while others may pose a threat to the world!
With the guardian beast, Cerberus, Sakura has to find and seal all the cards again before something terrible happens!
Sword Art Online (2012)
If you are passionate about technology, let me suggest this high-tech adventure that takes place in a virtual world!
Sword Art Online is the name of a fantasy game like so many others that exist in real life, but the one from the anime has the advantage of being played through an immersive Virtual Reality system.
The game is a big sensation worldwide, and thousands of people are excited to play it upon its release.
What seemed to be a dream come true ends up being a true nightmare for the players when they find out the developer of the game removed the log-out function!
The only way to leave the game is to beat it, and to make things worse, dying in the game means dying in real life!
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (2009)
This anime is one of my favorites, and if you watch it, you'll certainly understand why!
Be careful not to watch the wrong anime. The first adaptation of the manga "Fullmetal Alchemist" is good, but this most recent one is way more accurate to the original story.
And be prepared for blood and action! This anime is not a show for kids!
In Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, the brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric learn not to break the alchemy rules in the worst way possible.
As they try to revive their mother through alchemy, Alphonse's body and one of Edward's legs disintegrate.
Edward manages to keep his brother's soul in the physical realm by attaching it to armor but has to sacrifice his arm in the process!
Years of training later, the Elric brothers set off on a quest after a powerful gem that could restore their bodies: the Philosopher's Stone.
Attack on Titan (2013)
And lastly, an anime whose action scenes and plot twists will keep you on the edge of your seat!
In Attack on Titan, humans are forced to live behind enormous walls not to be eaten by terrifying giants called Titans.
For centuries, the walls were effective barriers against the monsters, but people's safety was destroyed along with the structure when a bigger and stronger titan appeared.
In this context, Eren Yeager and his friends join an elite military unit to combat the horrific threat and find a way to defeat them for good.
Welcome to my World!
This is just a tiny little sample, considering the myriad of shows that are being produced every year!
There are animes suitable for all sorts of tastes, from educational shows for children to the most disturbing horror tales! Feel free to choose whatever suits your interests and age!
