Imagine meeting one of these teachers from anime at school every day!

Like other immigrants, I worked as an English teacher right after I arrived in Japan!

It was a great experience, and I got along very well with my students. But I wasn’t nearly as popular as some anime sensei.

Some teachers in anime are so charismatic, no matter how suspicious their methods are, would make tons of otakus go back to school to see them daily!

Here are five of the most loved anime teachers I know.

Irina Jelavich - Assassination Classroom

Ladies first!

Allow me to start with Ms. *itchy.

Irina Jelavich went from a professional hitwoman to an English teacher at Kunugigaoka Junior High School due to her mission to kill Korosensei. Her initial arrogance and sexiness inspired the mocking nickname.

However, after becoming comfortable around her students, she revealed a nicer, even somewhat innocent side. Shocking for someone whose job involves luring opponents with her voluptuous body and provocative clothes to unalive them.

But she also has other talents. I wonder what my fellow otakus would like to learn from her first! Maybe a new language, how to play an instrument, or her kiss of death.

Korosensei - Assassination Classroom

The yellow smiling octopus dubbed Korosensei is far from being the most conventional teacher you’ll find, not just because of his appearance. He poses a threat to the world!

Korosensei is a former assassin who claims to be responsible for destroying a significant portion of the moon, and the Earth is his next target. But only after a year of teaching Class 3-E of Kunugigaoka Junior High School.

While Korosensei may be silly and a menace to the planet, he truly cares about his students, even though the rest of the school sees the class as worthless.

He works to understand and guide them in the best way possible, eventually earning the kids’ trust and respect.

Eikichi Onizuka - Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO)

Coming from the late 90s, here’s another eccentric teacher who managed to tame and captivate his troublesome students with questionable methods!

Eikichi Onizuka is childish, a pervert, and a troublemaker himself.

In the beginning, he only worried about his ecchi goals. However, he was determined to become a great teacher. And with some luck, he connected with his students on certain occasions and provided valuable life lessons that changed their lives.

He often went the extra mile to protect his students, even with his stereotyped attitude and looks of a delinquent. That fun mix of wildness and care made him an unforgettable anime sensei!

Tetsuo Takahashi - Interviews with Monster Girls

Takahashi-sensei is a personal favorite! He is a biology teacher with a considerable interest in demi-humans!

It is true that he initially approached the monster girl students primarily for his research and can be insensitive with his questions — especially considering their teacher-student relationship.

However, he uses the information gathered to improve their school life.

Takahashi-sensei is easygoing, gentle, and quite talkative. He works hard to treat every monster as an equal and is always willing to comfort his students and help them feel more at ease around human classmates. No wonder they admire him so much.

Satoru Gojou - Jujutsu Kaisen

It’s hard to talk about loved teachers without talking about Satoru Gojou. It’s harder to find an otaku who isn’t obsessed with his looks, skills, attitude, or all that combined!

Gojou is an unmatched jujutsu sorcerer, and he’s well aware of it. With all his confidence, he can come off as reckless or immature, acting playful around his students. But he is clever, insightful, and truly cherishes his pupils.

The legion of otakus who fell in love with this acid sensei with stunning blue eyes can now delight themselves by watching the new season of Jujutsu Kaisen! It shows Gojou’s school days.

The Class Is Over!

These anime teachers are fun and energetic, but most importantly, they worry about their students and help even the most difficult ones. This is why their classes and anime fans love them!

But can you imagine how troublesome it would be to have these teachers with strong personalities in one place? Let’s not forget the importance of peaceful anime teachers to balance the energy too!
