There are some animes that only the bravest can watch. Shows like Made In Abyss or the latest success, Chainsaw Man contain scenes that are not for everybody.

However, while I expect nothing less from gore animes, there were scenes that really caught me by surprise!

Scenes that left me completely shocked from animes that I would never have imagined could take such drastic turns!

And as I’m sure I’m not alone, let’s remember these jaw-dropping moments!

Death Note - L’s Death

This scene shocked Death Note and L’s fans insanely! And I was one of them!

L was so admired for his intelligence that I counted the minutes that he would finally reveal the Light was Kira, but instead, he got caught first!

In his last moments, Light took him in his arms pretending to be worried, but let L see his wicked grin upon his victory.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica - Mami being beheaded

Upon its release, Madoka Magica seemed to be the typical, cute Magical Girl anime, with kind little girls and an adorable mascot. It only seemed to be that way…

After a few episodes, this anime showed its true colors: Who thought a cute magical girl, like Mami Tomoe, would have their head bitten off? I indeed didn’t.

During the battle against the witch Charlotte, Mami was confident she would win until the witch transformed, jumped right in front of her, and feasted on her head.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - The Talking Chimera

Wow! I still remember how anime fans flipped out after this scene in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood!

Nina and Alexander were the cutest duo: The innocent child and her fluffy dog. Nina’s father, Shou Tucker, earned a State Alchemist's License after creating a chimera able to speak like humans.

But Tucker himself stated that he didn’t have the same success with the following experiments. Not until the appearance of a chimera with a white furry body and long brown hair.

The chimera was Alexander and little Nina who had been fused into a monster by her own father!

I could write an article dedicated to all the moments in AOT that blew my mind (and another one about the endless final season😂)!

Attack on Titan is an anime that has been surprising us for several reasons since it premiered in 2013. One of the reasons is this scene, right in episode 01.

The death of a character’s parent isn’t new, and although it’s sad, we know it helps develop the characters' personality and motivation.

However, watching Eren’s mother saying “Don’t leave me!” under her breath right before she is taken and eaten by a gigantic monster in front of her son is definitely something I wasn’t prepared for!

Now take a deep breath…

Wow! Remembering all these shocking anime moments revived feelings I’m not very proud of! Especially Nina’s scene! How can a father do that to his little daughter?!

Anyway… Good stories often contain plot twists, unexpected reveals or emotional speeches, but these scenes are something else.

And that’s another reason why I love anime so much! We never know when they’ll surprise us and play with our emotions like that! Don’t you agree?
